Does ReminderCall work when my phone is on silent?

Short answer: Yes — a reminder call rings like any normal phone call, so it follows your ring settings, not your notification settings. Calls break through where banners can’t.

Yes — and this is the single biggest difference between a reminder call and a reminder notification.

Notifications live under your notification settings: Do Not Disturb, Focus modes, notification summaries and plain habit all conspire to hide them. A phone call is treated differently by iOS — it rings through like any call from a person, follows your ring settings, and shows the full-screen incoming-call UI even when the phone is locked.

On hard mute (the physical switch), a call arrives as a vibrating, full-screen interruption rather than an audible ring — and to make it ring even then, the app walks you through a one-time setup: save our number as a contact and switch on Emergency Bypass. After that it rings through silent mode. iOS gives no app permission to set Emergency Bypass for you, which is why it's a guided step rather than something we can do silently. If you use Do Not Disturb, calls can also be allowed through via iOS's "Allow Calls From" settings, and repeated calls within three minutes break through by default on most configurations.

ReminderCall also sends an SMS backup when a call can't reach you, so the reminder text still lands on your lock screen.
